Position Profile:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Advanced Physics Algorithms in our Boston area headquarters, we seek a Principal Scientist to lead our effort in developing physics extensions of our lattice Boltzmann-based flow simulation software in the areas of complex and multi-phase fluid applications.
In this role, you are expected to have a master understanding in complex and multi-phase fluid physics, thorough knowledge in CFD algorithms in general and exposure in lattice Boltzmann methods in particular, a good communication skill with customers in relevant industries to understand the essence of customers’ needs and requirements, and to lead in the product development of the required physics extensions (analyses, algorithms and models) in complex and multi-phase fluid flows for real engineering applications. The successful candidate must be talented, creative, and enthusiastic about exploring new territories in physical and computational science and engineering. Strong analytical skills and background in mathematics is also highly desired. You are also expected to have an effective interaction with software developers and applications engineers. You will play a leadership role and be expected to lead projects and manage staff in a collaborative and collegial environment.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years post PhD degree in a Physics or Engineering discipline.
- Deep background in the field of complex and multi-phase fluid flow physics.
- Experience of major responsibility in applying CFD software to solve engineering problems.
- Thoroughly knowledgeable about fluid mechanics, numerical methods and numerical analysis.
- Exposure to lattice Boltzmann and/or other kinetic theory based methods.
- Excellent problem-analyzing and problem-solving skills.
- Strong English communication skills.
- A leadership capability, management skill and team player.
Additional Skills & Experiences:
Experience with one or more is highly desirable:
- Experience in developing lattice Boltzmann or other numerical algorithms.
- Familiar with software engineering practices in a collaborative environment.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of computer system internals.
- Demonstrated experience in R&D of complex and multi-phase fluid physics.
- Direct experience in industrial applications related to oil-gas or similar.
- Previous experience in managing engineering projects.
- Previous experience in CFD/CAE.
