Thermal Validation Engineer
Role & Responsibilities:
Exa Corporation is seeking an Engineer to fill a new technical position in the area of thermal management simulations. The objective of this position is to perform validation, develop best practices and new simulation methodologies using PowerFLOW code for automotive thermal management applications.
As a Thermal Validation Engineer you will:
- Act as a member of the Thermal Management Group and be responsible for validating the latest thermal features in PowerFLOW and develop new technical solutions of interest to the automotive industry which will require the ability to solve challenging fluid dynamic and heat transfer problems.
- Communicate the validation activities to the development team.
- Become proficient in the use of Exa’s software and other CAE tools.
- Communicate with customers and if necessary provide technical support on the developed applications. You will also work closely with members of the team and other groups within the company.
- Work with the leading automotive companies and help them solve the challenging problems of cooling and thermal management of ground vehicles
You will report to the Director of Thermal Management Applications and will be based out of Detroit, Michigan; (an alternate location may be considered in certain cases for the qualified candidate.). Requirements:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerodynamics, Physics or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of fluid dynamic and heat transfer fundamentals, preferably thermal management background with 2-4 years of relevant work in the industry.
- Experience in Underhood Thermal Management applications in automotive industry, both simulations and experimental, a strong plus.
- UNIX Skills, script programming and knowledge of programming languages, a strong plus.
- Strong expertise in using commercial CFD and CAE tools.
- Strong oral communication skills in English and good presentation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills and a desire for continuous learning.
- Ability to apply these skills cooperatively in a challenging fast-paced environment on a team with experienced professionals.
- Requires occasional busienss travel (domestic/international).
