Application Engineer(s) Heavy Vehicle North America
Role & Responsibilities:
Exa Corporation is seeking one or more engineers to fill entry level to senior technical leadership positions in either our Boston, MA or Detroit, MI locations. You will report directly to the Application Engineering Manager. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in the areas of thermal management, aerodynamics, and aeroacoustics.
As an Application Engineer you will:
- Develop and present strong technical analysis and design recommendations to clients with real-world problems.
- Be customer-focused, very responsive, and develop a strong level of trust with customers and know how to add value in a customer support situation.
- Act as a key link between our customers and Exa’s product development team.
- Provide pre-sales support to the sales team in the locally assigned region, and assist in other duties such as: pre-processing, administering, and post processing of customer benchmark cases, supporting the Lead Application Engineers with customer services projects and some post-sales customer support.
- Interact with and support the technical team in other Exa offices as part of the global AE team.
- Be eligible for variable compensation based on team and territory revenue performance

Requirements:
- BS or MS in ME, CFD, Aerodynamics, Physics or equivalent.
- 1-2 years experience using CAE Tools and/or conducting experimental studies particularly in area of Under-hood Cooling, Thermal Management or Aerodynamics.
- Solid knowledge of fluid dynamic fundamentals.
- Familiarity with CAD, CAE applications, and geometry processing.
- UNIX Skills, Script programming and experience with complex graphics tools
- Strong desire for continuous learning.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks/multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to apply these skills cooperatively in a team of experienced professionals.
- Willingness to travel (up to 25% domestically).
Additional Skills & Experiences:
- Security clearance (SECRET or higher) is preferred.
- Experience with common CAD or Geometry Tools is a plus.
