Automotive Applications Engineer
Role & Responsibilities:
Exa Corporation is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a performance racing engineering position within the Application Engineering team. The position is located in Livonia, MI (near Detroit) with intensive customer interaction. We are particularly interested in finding someone with an automotive CFD background as well as strong fundamental knowledge of aerodynamics. Automotive experience in computational fluid dynamics is required An individual with a strong interest in or experience with auto racing would make an ideal candidate.
As an Automotive Applications Engineer you will:
- Be responsible for detailed validation studies that compare PowerFLOW simulation results to experimental test data.
- You will also be responsible for collaborating with the field teams to deploy application methodologies in customer projects for both demonstration and productive use situations.
- General engineering tasks include setting up simulation cases, administering the runs, collecting and analyzing results, carrying out technical research, writing up analyses, and presentation of results.
- Additional responsibilities include product testing of new capabilities and development of prototypes for new or enhanced functionality.
As a member of engineering team, you will interact very closely with the sales organization and customers in supporting customer projects and activities.
Requirements:
- BS, MS. or Ph.D. in Mechanical. Engineering, Aerodynamics, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of Automotive Industry experience.
- 3+ years of experience with CFD
- Background in aerodynamics and/or aeroacoustics, with particular preference to automotive applications.
- Familiarity with CAD and CAE applications, especially CFD.
- Solid knowledge of fluid dynamics fundamentals.
- Script programming ability and unix/linux skills.
- High motivation and energy level.
- Strong oral communication skills in English and good presentation skills along with the ability to influence decision makers.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills and a strong desire for continuous learning.
- Ability to apply these skills cooperatively in a team of experienced professionals.
- 10-15% Domestic Travel
Additional Skills & Experiences:
- Experience with complex graphics tools is a plus
- Experience supporting race teams a significant plus.
